Hello from Canada,

Happy times. The headmistress I recall was Miss Cundel, and here I was taught the mysteries of "Joined up writing" and times tables. I shall always remember that rather fearsome lady coming into the class one morning to tell us we all were to go home. We thought it a great idea, until we understood that the King had died. Then my memory plays tricks - we were all involved in the Coronation play, and were taken to the local cinema to see the newsreel footage, which of course, was the following year and we were so proud that Sir John Hunt's team had conquered Everest. As I said, Happy times, and I wish I could thank those dedicated ladies, Miss Bird and Miss Burt who gave me such a good start.

My best wishes to my grandchild's generation.
