"They did not listen"

I have a pair of trousers that I bought for a wedding. The waist was just a tad tight. I asked for them to let the waist out by half an inch. They took them in by half an inch either side, making them unwearable and not enough time to get them re-done. I had to buy another pair and put up with them being a bit tight. Ten pounds for a disaster. Why can't people listen..
